Youth Band

We have 50 talented players in our main youth band. Our conductor is Andrew Hirst who joined our founding conductor Les Hall in February 2002, Andrew conducted his first competition with the band in June 2002 we were thrilled to achieve 2nd Place at Rhyl. The band has had a very successful 2 years under Andrew's guidance and have had wins at Rhyl, Tameside and Blackpool. Andrew and Les still bring in the results with another successful win across the Board at Rhyl 2003 and 2nd at Tameside 2004..

The band practices every Friday Night from 7 - 9.15 pm,  they play a varied and wide range of music. We hold 4 concerts annually and take on many engagements outside of the band room. Christmas is our busiest time and the band can regularly be seen at Handforth Dean and Lyme Park. The band was in Paris in August 2002 where they gave wonderful performances on the stage in Disneyland and at the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. Last August the band visited Valkenburg in the Netherlands to perform at three venues.

We are looking forward to July 2005 when the Youth Band will have the opportunity to share the billing with Brighouse and Rastrick at Lyme Park on the South Lawn.
